Dr. Maria Carolina Grillo was born in Caracas, Venezuela and immigrated with her family at a young age to South Florida. She is a “double Gator” graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. During that time, she dedicated herself to working on community outreach by mentoring future veterinary students and providing veterinary care to under-serviced communities in Florida and Ecuador. She also received additional training in exotic animal medicine and fear free practices. She is passionate about empowering families and strengthening the human-animal bond through education.
Dr. Grillo considers herself a true generalist who enjoys most aspects of small animal and exotic animal medicine. She especially enjoys endocrinology, dermatology, behavior, and geriatric medicine.
She is happily married to a man who loves animals as much she does. They share their home with their rescue animals Gabi (a Labrador Retriever), Oliver (a Pug), Nori (a Cymric), and Malygos (a bearded dragon). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, checking out new restaurants, and dancing to Latin music.
